Personal Notes:
"Grazier of Biggam Station, near Adaminaby, is the third son of William Jardine, JP of Curray Flat, Nimetybelle, and was born at Bullumbalong in 1858. He received his education under Mr. Macarthur at King's School, Parramatta, and on the completion of his studies, joined Mr. Surveyor J.H. Balmain, with whom he remained on the field twelve months, after which he joined Mr. Surveyor Haylock, and with that gentleman completed his time. Abandoning the profession, he engaged largely in stock-dealing with the Victorian makets, at the same time carrying on the business of his station. The Biggam Station, of which he is the owner, was a present from his father, by whom it was taken up about thirty five years ago. The property is now being changed from a sheep to a cattle station; it comprises about 10,000 acres, well timbered, and splendidly subdivided in nineteen paddocks. Upon this land is the latest improved machinery for agricultural purposes, including Howard's reaper and binder. The crops produced are chiefly wheat and oats, potatoes and turnips. Mr. Jardine has under rust-proof wheat cultivation eighty acres of which he last year obtained a yield of 1000 bushels, and 200 acres under oats, producing 5000 bushels. He has on his estate 4000 Berkshire and Poland-China pigs and intends to enter upon the industry of bacon curing. He has always devoted considerable attention to the selection of blood sires, and has on his property the blood stallions Coastguard by Smuggler, and Leamington by Lord of Linne (imp.) Mr Jardine married at North Shore in 1883, Marion, third daughter of James Burt, by whom he has two children, one being deceased."
