|
'Death.— Another old resident has passed away. We regret that we have to record the death of Mrs. Hyland, of Grose's Plain, Jindabyne, who departed this life on Tuesday last. She had been a resident of this district for upwards of 40 years, she having come from Queanbeyan (where she was also well known and respected to Manaro. The remains of the deceased lady will be buried in the Church of England Cemetery tomorrow (Sunday)'. Manaro Mercury, 14 September 1872.
'It is with extreme regret that I have to record the demise of Mrs. Hyland, senior, of Grose's Plaines, a very old and respected inhabitant of this neighbourhood for many years. The deceased lady departed this life, on Wednesday last, after a short but painful illness. She had endeared herself to the hearts of a great many by her kindness and affability, and was one of the very few good hearted persons now getting so scarce amongst us. The funeral cortege left her late residence, Grose's Plains, today (Saturday), attended by a large number of sorrowing friends and relations'. Manaro Mercury, 21 September 1872. Inscription Sacred to the Memory of /Martin Hyland / Who Departed this Life / November 30 – 1865: / Aged 52 Years. “May He Rest In Peace” “Afflictions sure long time I have Physicians were in vain Till God did please to give me ease And rid me of my pain” Also of / Ann / Wife of the above who died at Grosses Plain 11 Sep. 1872 / Aged 52 Years |
