Personal Notes: |
Born at Newcastle-on-Tyne, England, Ian had been at sea since entering Naval College at 13! Ian's father was a brilliant M.5c who had worked on the development of ASDIC. After the war he became Chief Electrical Engineer/Manager for the Burmese Government, with a brief to restore the electricity supply. Whilst there he was a reluctant witness to the assassination of the Burmese President and six Cabinet Ministers! |
