| Sarah Oakman nee Goode followed her mother Louisa into the occupation of a Midwife/Nurse, in the Adelong area and beyond, administering to bushrangers, miners and land holders alike. Wherever Sarah or Louisa went they had "safe passage" - in those days doctors were few and far between, for their services they were truly teated as "angels of mercy". After her marriage to Thomas Oakman, Sarah owned and ran "Oakdine" private hospital, Nurse Street, Henty, NSW. All her grandchildren were born there. |
