Patrick Licedy married Anne Beare (widow of 1. Peter Plummer; 2. George Blewitt). Their son, francis was born Licedy; but when Anne died her death certificate, in 1896, and headstone show her as Lysight. Francis married as Lysight and his death certificate and funeral notices show him as Lysaght. The three sons were born as Lysight, and two enlisted for WW1 as Lysaght.
Patrick's father was John Licedym a farmer, of Limerick Ireland. His mother: Mary Abbott. Patrick's occupation at the time of marriage was farm assistant. (I wonder if he worked for Anne at Burra?). Although there is a listing for a Patrick Lissidy, of Burra, a Free Selector, in 1867. (frequently names were spelled out as they sounded, and this could be our Patrick). I can find no reason for the change of name. |
