Personal Notes: |
When Thomas Baker was 18 years old he purchased 8 bullocks and carried wool from Wagga Wagga to Sydney. The trip took 6 months. Later he had one of the best farms in the district. He used single furrow plough and 2 horses, paid £1 an acre to get grain harvested with a reaper hook. Thomas Baker was a farmer & grazier. He selected land at Lake Albert. During the bushranging days he successfully carried large sums of money hidden in hollow yokes on his bullocks. During the 1852 flood he was stranded on the hill where the Church of England Church now stands. |
