Delegate Argus 5 Jul 1917
MRS. C. MUDIE. The community had barely got over the shocks of the above deaths when yesterday morning word was received that Mrs. Coulson Mudie had passed away a little after midnight the previous night. The news came as a great surprise to everyone. Only the previous Monday week Mrs. Mudie accompanied her husband, who is still in Bombala Hospital, to Bombala. She became ill on the Thursday, and yes terday week it was deemed advisable to remove her to the hospital, she having contracted pneumonia, which seems to be disastrous this winter. On Saturday her condition grew worse. She gradually sank, and passed away peacefully as mentioned above. Rev. Father Roche and Norris visited her before the end and administered the last sad rites of the Church in which she was such a firm adherent and believer. It seems hard to think that one so young should so soon be called to the other side. In the greatest adversity she could always muster a cheery smile, and her bright little face will be missed from almost every gathering in Delegate. Full of vivacity, fun, and life, she always brought a ray of sunshine into any home she visited. She will be particularly missed in St. Joseph's Church, in which she took a wonderful pride and delight, and for which she seemed never to tire of working. In the Church Choir she likewise took a leading part. The deceased lady was possessed of a sweet voice and a charming stage style, and always played a leading role in any effort put forth by local amateurs. At the time she was taken ill she was studying the part of ' Sweet Alice ' in the drama ' Ben Bolt.' To think that she now 'lies under the stone' in reality is hard to believe. Mrs. Mudie was a daughter of Mr. and the late. Mrs. Chas. Morrison, and was the eldest daughter of the family. In addition to her father, husband, several sisters and brothers she also leaves two little daughters. To all of them we are sure the whole hearted sympathy of everyone in the community in fully extended.' The funeral took place at Bombnla yesterday afternoon, the remains being fo lowed to their last resting place— along side her mother — by a large cortege of mourners, including many from Delegate. Rev. Father Roche officiated at the grave side. Amongst the many floral tributes placed on the coffin was one from the Del egate Amateur Minstrel and Dramatic Club.
