- Notes: Ruby disappeared from the family in Tumut around 1917, leaving her mother Mary Margaret Anderson (nee Long), to largely raise her 3 very small children.
All traces of Ruby Myrtle were unfortunately destroyed by Willliam at that time.
Ruby’s mother Mary Margaret Anderson was apparently a wonderful maternal replacement to Eva Helen (Peg) and her siblings Mary and Bill.

Ruby has been invisible until the chance discovery of an old “estate notice” from SMH last year. It stated her full married name, Ruby Myrtle Denson, and the name she had “adopted” since 1917 until her death in 1981, which was her mother’s middle name Margaret, and her new partners surname, O’Brien.
It also stated her DOD as 2/1/1981, and the executer as Patrick O’Brien. Thru that we located her on NSW BDM.

My sister engaged a NLA researcher to trace her movements on the basis of the SMH notice.
Margaret “O’Brien” was then able to be traced sporadically via the electoral roll/ census from 1930, 1933 1935 1936 1958, 1977, 1980 to her death in January 1981, including the names of “probable” children living with her and partner James Patrick O’Brien, and probably his parents.

Unfortunately her obituary and burial information still eludes me.
