William Christian Willis was born on the 23 May 1856 in Pyrmont, Sydney . He worked on the railways firstly as a labourer and then as a carpenter. In all he worked from 1 May 1874 to the 20 Aug 1916. He was the eldest child of Danish migrant John Christian Willis (1833-1883) and Welsh migrant Ann Probert (1831-1915). His siblings included Angelina Willis (1857-1928), Eleanor Henrietta Willis (1859-1923), Amelia Willis (1860-?), John Willis (1863-1952), Christina Willis (1865-1948), Annie Willis (1868-1931), Peter Henry Willis (1870-1947), Eda Willis (1871-1913) and Richard Ernest Probert Willis (1874-1894).
William died on the 15 February 1928 in Bethesda Private Hospital at Marrickville, Sydney . Cause of death pneumonia. He was 71 and is buried at Rookwood. |
