William Butler was born in England and married Agnes Ancel of Scotland. Their first born - Isobella Butler, was born at Reide Creek near Beechworth in 1858. She later married William James Beattie of Windowie.
William and Agnes were at the Kiandra goldfields in 1860 when their first son \Vllliam Butler was born. In the same year the family moved to a farm at Killimicat where their second son, Joseph Butler was born in 1862. Agnes Sophie Butler was also born while-they were living at Killimicat in 1865. In the 1866 William Butler selected the farming property at Gilmore Creek Which is still held by his descendants. |
