OBITUARY MRS. ANNIE V. BROWN The death occurred at her home, Newtown, Tumut, on Wednesday last, of Mrs. Annie Vine Brown, wife of Mr. Leslie V. Brown of Capper-st., at the age of 72 years. Deceased, who was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Cribb, of Tumut, where she was born, was twice married, her first husband being the late Mr. Alfred Feint of Tumut, who was killed many years ago as the result of an accident at the Tumut quarry. Thirtyfive years ago the subject of this obituary married Mr. Leslie Vernon Brown of Tumut. She bad been in ill-health for the past five years and three years ago underwent a serious operation in Sydney, where she remained in hospital for five months. Her health gradually failed since then and she passed quietly away. Having no family of her own, the late Mrs. Brown took upon herself the rearing and education of nine children, including five members of the Bullock family— Ossie, Ernest and Dick, Mrs. H. Higgins and Mrs. A. Manns — and also partially reared two other children. An adopted daughter, Phyllis (Mrs. A. G. Stokes) survives. Deceased was greatly devoted to her home and was highly respected by all who knew her for her kindness and charity. Besides her sorrowing husband there are four brothers — Alfred, Charles and Ernest Cribb, of Goobragandra, and William Cribb, of Bombowlee— surviving. Two brothers, John and Frederick, and two sisters, Amelia and Louisa, predeceased her. The funeral took place on Friday afternoon, leaving the home in Capper-st. for the C. of E. portion of the Tumut New Cemetery. Rev. S. Broadfoot officiated at the graveside and Mr. C. W. Burt carried out the mortuary arrangements. The pallbearers were Messrs. Ossie and Ernie Bullock, Harry Higgins, Andrew Sheehan, Chas. Stokes and Dooley Manns.
