The son of George and Elizabeth nee Hurley Kellond, William was born in Saint Heliers, on the Island of Jersey, Channel Islands. In 1857 William's parents emigrated to the colony. Traveling as assisted immigrants, the family arrived in Port Jackson, Sydney on 23 Aug 1857 on the ship "Zemindar".

William married Mary Ann nee Beileiter on 13 Jun 1881 in Bombala, NSW. They had 7 (seven), children, William George, Elizabeth May, Linda Ethel, Henry John, Frederick David, Ruby Beatrice, and Olivine.

William drowned at Wallagoote Heads while fishing.

The old Bega Cemetery closed in 1905. All of the headstones were moved to the present Bega Cemetery location. The remains of the deceased were left at the Old Bega Cemetery and the High School was built over them.
If there was a headstone for the deceased the plot number is its location at the Bega Cemetery.
