- Notes: Bridget Egan and her sister Mary Egan arrived in Sydney on the Irish orphan ship the Thomas Arbuthnot in February 1850. They came from Galway, Ireland and it is thought they were cousins to Mrs. Ellen Cussion (who also came about this period) and also of Mary Howe, from County Clare, Ireland, (who married Phillip Arentz [spelt ARENZ on BDM] at Tumut in 1871). The two girls were brought to Tumut and placed in employment with Mr. T. Anderson at Tumut Bridge. Bridget was 16 and Mary was 17 years of age. (Bridget Egan may also have worked as a housemaid for Mrs. George Shelley at Tumut Plains.) After her marriage to James Keown in 1866, Bridget and her husband James, rented a farm from H.L. Hanis at Tumut Plains next to the Public School. Children of James & Bridget Keown were;

>Jane Keown born 1867 (married J. Curry [used Bridget on marriage certificate] in 1898 at Coolgardie W.A.) died Tumut at 91 yrs, [Their only daughter Mary Curry who married Edward Malone at Tumut in 1926 resided in Sydney St Tumut]
>Thomas Keown born 1869 (married Mary Halloran in 1892) [Thier son Augustus (Gus) Keown lost his legs in World War I and then ran the Tobacco Kiosk at the corner of Martin Place and Pitt Streets Sydney for more than 35 years.],
>Georgina Keown born 1871 (died unmarried, in 1894 aged 23),
>Eliza Keown (married [Elizabeth on marriage certificate] Frederick Thomas in 1894),
>Emily Keown born 1877 (married D. Quinlan in Adelaide S.A.).
