Personal Notes: |
Dorothy Agnes Higgins studied music with a teacher in Charters Towers. The family moved from Charters Towers to Sydney where she continued her studies through the London College of Music and graduated with distinction - notice in Charters Towers Newspaper.
Dorothy married George Feather Lawrence (artist) and lived at Northwood in Sydney and mixed in the circle that included William Dobell and Lloyd Rees. My aunt met George Lawrence through my father's association with this group. George Lawrence won the Wynn Art Prize and he and Dorothy travelled to Paris by P&O Orient where they lived and traveled for a year. George and Dorothy had 1 son. Bruce George Feather Lawrence (b. 1930) who was a composer/pianist/teacher at Knox Grammar School. (He died 2 years ago). Bruce married Denise (still living) also a musician of standing. They have 4 children. |
