The Tumut and Adelong Time 5 Aug 1930
OBITUARY MRS JOHN HIDES Mrs. Eliza Victoria Hides, relict of the late John Hides, sawmiller, of Pilot Hill, Batlow, died at her residence, Batlow, on Thursday afternoon, at the age of 75 years. Deceased leaves a large family to mourn the loss of a devoted mother. For beween 40 and 50 years she resided in the Batlow district, and was a true helpmeet to her late husband in pioneering the timber industry at Pilot Hill, both husband and wife, as well as their esteemed family being highly respected by all who knew them. She was a daughter of Robert Luff, of Tumblong, and her stepmother, bordering on the 90's, went to see her on the day of her death and was present at the bedside when she passed away. The funeral took place on Friday, the remains being interred in the Church of England portion of the Tumut New Cemetery. Rev. H. J. Velvin, of Batlow, officiating at the graveside and Messrs W. H. Fuller and Son carried out the mortuary arrangements. Further reference to deceased will be made in a later issue. |

If you find errors - anything incorrect (dates, places, wrong parents, wrong children), and you have evidence, I would love to fix them. Or, if you have information that would extend my projects, do not hestiate to contact me on the email link below. I do not publish information on living people - which means I'm not much interested in people born after about 1920, and I usually distrust material from before about 1770 without extremely good sources. g.bell@bigpond.net.au When you click the mail address abouve, if it does not open your email app, copy the address on the screen.
