Obituary. MR. FRED. J. CRIBB. Death has claimed a big toll this week. On Monday three Tumut district residents passed to that bourne whence no traveller returns. Mr. Fred. James Cribb, of Goobragandra River, went to his last acount at the Tumut Hospital, the cause of his demise being sarcoma of the liver. Deeased had intended going on a droving expedition a little more than three weeks ago, but not feeling well decided to consult the local medicos, with the result that they ordered him into the Tumut Hospital, where an operation was performed. There were hopes of his recovery at first, but Nature did not respond to the skilled treatment, and he passed away on Monday morning. Deceased was 47 years ot age and a native of the district, being a son of the late Thomas Cribb. He leaves a widow and a family of two daughters (Mrs. H. Harris of Argalong and Miss Nellie) and five sons (Fred, of Bourke, Tom, of Narandera, Walter, Henry and John), one child having died when quite young. He was connected with station work all his life and was a typical bushman. The remains were interred in the Church of England portion of the new cemetery on Tuesday, Messrs Chas. and Richard Cribb (brothers), Walter Feint, Ernie Bullock, J. F. Atkinson and W. Stokes acting as pall-bearers. Rev. K. L. McKeown officiated at the graveside, and Mr. Jas. Elphick directed the funeral. |
