On November 4 Mr. and Mrs. Francis Dunn celebrated their golden wedding at Mimosa Glen, Sutton. After the toast of Mr. and Mrs. Dunn had been proposed by Mr. P. A. Rolfe, Mr. W. Dunn, M.L.A., on behalf of his brothers and sisters, presented his parents with a handsome sulky and harness, and to his father a saddle. Mr. and Mrs. Dunn were married on November 4, 1862, by the late Rev. P. G. Smith, M.A., at St. John's, Canberra. Mr. Dunn is the third son of the late Isaac Dunn, of Eastfield House, near Hull, Yorkshire, England. His wife is the youngest daughter of the late Mr. Alex. Fraser, of Goulburn, and a native of Glasgow, Scotland. Her father's Waterloo medal is In her possession, he having fought in that battle in the First Battalion, 27th Regiment. Mr. Dunn left England for the Australian goldfields on February 14, 1853, in company with four other young Englishmen. He spent two years at Bendigo, Rockhampton, and other fields with varied success, and finally settled at Sutton, where he has resided for the past 50 years.
The Sydney Morning Herald... Saturday 16 November 1912, page 9. "Francis Dunn was a selector living near us. One morning he and his son Isaac were splitting timber on the west side of a ridge and we were at work on the eastside. The second tree they felled caught in the branches of another tree and kicked back, inflicting shocking injuries on one of young Isaac's legs. We heard someone calling out but thought it was Dunn's children and paid no further attention to it. We later learnt that it was Dunn calling to his wife for assistance. Isaac died a few hours after the limb was amputated. He was the eldest son of a family of four. Later, twins were born to his parents, and one of them, named William Fraser Dunn, represented Mudgee in Parliament for more than twenty years and was Minister for Agriculture for several years."
