OBITUARY MR. FRANK COLLS The friends of Mr. Frank Colls, of Batlow and formerly of Junee and Sydney, will regret to learn of his sudden death on Wednesday last. He became ill about three weeks ago. He spent a week at home, but resumed work the week before last and seemed quite well. He left his work about 5.15 p.m. on Wednesday last, but collapsed on the road, death being instantaneous. He is survived by his widow. Mr. Colls, who was aged 45 years, was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Colls, formerly of Junee and now of Goondah, Cheviot -st., Ashbury, Sydney. He went to school at Junee, where his father was clerk of petty sessions for over 20 years and an alderman for one term. The deceased served his apprenticeshlp to the carpentering trade with the late G. H. Mutch at Junee, and was put out of his apprenticeship when he enlisted in the Great War and went overseas to France, where he lost the sight of one eye. On returning to Australia he went back to his trade with his old employer at Junee. He married Miss Phyllis Basham, a school teacher attached to the Junee Public School, and later the family went to reside in Sydney. For some years Mr. Colls had resided in Batlow and was librarian in charge of the School of Arts in that town for some years past. A widow, one son and one daughter survive. One sister, Mrs. Charles (Minnie) Matterson, of Sydney and formerly in business in Wagga and Wyalong, survives. The funeral took place at Batlow on Friday last, members of the Masonic Lodge and the Batlow Branch of the R.S.S.I.L.A. paying their respects to their late brother and comrade. |
