OBITUARY MRS. GEORGE OAKMAN The death occurred at his home at "The Grove" Adelong, on 7th inst. of Mr. George Oakman after a short illness at the age of 80 years. The late Mr. Oakman was born at Grahamstown, and was the youngest son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Oakman. He was a member of a pioneering family who settled at Happy Valley in the Tumba rumba district. Mr. Oakman spent all his life on the land and was a hardworking and industrious man. He was a good neighbour and many are the deeds of kindness recorded that were extended by him to those around him. At the age of 26 years he married Miss Louisa Goode, and the family of four sons and six daughters were reared. One son, Raymond, predeceased him. Members of the family are Edna (Mrs A. Dean, Belmore), Jenny (Mrs A. Whiting, Lavington), Mona (Mrs. C. O'Keefe, Tumut), Edith (Mrs S. Bassman, Tumut), Greta (Adelong), Elmo (Tumut), Lindsay and Oliver (Adelong). Rev Dr. C. B. Alexander carried out the obseques at the graveside and the funeral arrangements were in the hands of Messrs Boston Bros. The casket was carried by Messrs Lindsay and Ollie Oak man (sons), Alf. Dean and Stan. Bassman (sons-in-law), Ray and Nev. Oakman (grandchildren).
