On 5 Dec 1831 in Kent, England George was sentenced to transportation for life for housebreaking.
He arrived in Port Jackson on 16 Oct 1832 on the ship Hercules
3 Dec 1840 he received his "Ticket to leave" in Queanbeyan
On 28 Jul 1843 he received permission to marry Mary Ann Curran, they were married on 28 Aug 1843 in Mount Cooper, NSW in a Church of England ceremony. George and Mary Ann had ten (10) children, 7 sons, and 3 daughters.

10 Jul 1848 he received a conditional Pardon

The old Bega Cemetery closed in 1905. All of the headstones were moved to the present Bega Cemetery location. The remains of the deceased were left at the Old Bega Cemetery and the High School was built over them.
