Mr. Simmons was a well known figure in Captain's Flat and had lived there a number of years. The funeral service was con ducted by Rev. G. F. Mr. Simmons was working at the bottom of the general shaft on what is known as a "mucking machine," one used to collect the loose earth after an explosion.
