- Notes: Deaths. JAMES LAND. ANOTHER of the oldest identities of Queanbeyan passed away yesterday in the person of Mr. James Land. For more than 50 years he has resided in this town, and was about 73 years of age at the time of his decease. For many years he followed the business of baker. But for a long time past his health has been very precarious, and considering his advanced age and his frailty his death was not unlooked for. His wife predeceased him many years ago, and he had left no children. In disposition he was quiet and peaceable in a marked degree, and "old Jim Land," as everybody spoke of him, was beloved and respected by all who knew him. He was uncle to the late Mr. Edwin Land, formerly Mayor of Queanbeyan. |
