OBITUARY
MR. J. BIRCH
The death occurred in Wagga yesterday afternoon of Mr. James Birch, of 4 Kildare Avenue, Wagga, after an illness of two years, at the age of 61 years. Mr. Birch had been a resident of Wagga for the last five years, and came from Culcairn to Wagga. He is survived by his widow and three sons— Messrs. Clarence, Norman and Gordon Birch, all of Wagga— and three daughters— Mesdames G. Black
(Holbrook), G. Nell (Wagga) and M. O'Dowd (Wagga). Mr. Birch was an esteemed member of the G.U.O.O.F. Lodge, Wagga. His funeral will leave St. John's Church of England, Wagga, at 3 o'clock this afternoon for the Wagga cemetery.

FUNERAL
MR. J. BIRCH
The funeral of Mr. James Birch, of 4 Kildare-avenue, Wagga, who died in Wagga on Sunday after a long illness, at the age of 61 years, took place on Monday afternoon. The cortege, con sisting of relatives and friends from Wagga, Kunama, Uranquinty, Murraguldrie and Holbrook, moved from St. John's Church of England after a service conducted by the Rev. C. A. Baker, the interment taking place in the Church of England division of the Wagga cemetery, where Mr. Baker officiated. The casket, laden with beautiful wreaths, was carried by Messrs. Clarrie, Norman and Gordon Birch (sons), Nat Smith, Thomas Smith and William Lee (brothers-in-law). The pall-bearers were Messrs. Alf Lee (brother-in-law), G. Black (son-in-law), and five members of the G.U.O.O.F. Lodge, Wagga, Brothers M. Rolfe (secretary), A. S. Towner (D.D. Master), E. H. Pearson, N.G., S. E. Shoemark, and C. Oakes, and Mr. James Reddy of the Wagga railway department. The chief mourners at the graveside besides those mentioned, were the widow (Mrs. Birch), and Mrs. M. O'Dowd, Mrs. G. Black and Mrs. G. Niel (daughters), Mrs. C. Birch (daughter-in-law), Messrs. M. O'Dowd and G. Niel (sons-in-law), Mr. J. Lee, of Uranqulnty (father-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. W. Jolly, of Murraguldrie, Mrs. Alf Lee, of Uranquinty, Mrs. William Lee, of Kunama (sisters-in-law), Mr. Abe Jeffery (uncle), Mr. Herman Smith (nephew), Mrs. N. Smith (sister-in-law). Among the many friends present were Messrs. D. Lloyd and Charles Butler (representing the Wagga railway staff), and Sister A. E. Dunn (G.U.O.O.F. Lodge). The lodge service at the graveside was read by Brother A. S. Towner, RDM. Wreaths were received from his fellow railway employees and from officers and brethren of Advance Lodge, G.O.O.OF., Wagga. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr. J. C. M'Donald, of Wagga.
