| When Susan Gale was shot, Olive, Doris and Lochien went to Susans sister Mrs Jordan and my granddad went to Albert Southwell and his wife Emmeline Bertha Southwell Nee Wheatley. Emmeline was the daughter of Josiah Wheatley and his wife Martha Smith, Josiah Wheatley was a brother to Loanna Gale Nee Wheatley who was married to John Gale and John Gale and Loanna Gale – Wheatley were my granddads grandparents. My granddad was known as Jack Southwell untill he became a young man, and then put his name back to John Gale and left Queanbeyan to be with his sisters Olive and Doris at Bundara, near Tamworth and he later married Elsie May Howlett. Albert Southwell and his wife Emmeline Bertha had a daughter named Nina Gotsple Southwell so we don’t know if she was their daughter either. |
