Personal Notes:

The children listed represent James's two marriages. First he married Mary Forrest and they had ten children, some born in Scotland and others in South Australia; then after Mary died, he married Mary McGregor and they had a further 10 children. James Snodgrass spent 38 years in South Australia before moving to "Summerlea" Uranquinty, NSW in about 1886. Son, James, born 1841 and daughter, Mary Kelly had moved to Germanton, now Holbrook, in 1875 before he (son James) took up "Forest Vale" south of Mangoplah. Son John, born 1845 took up "Glenroy" nearby. Sons, George and Allan later moved to Mendooran

James Snodgrass was born in Paisley Scotland on the 30 April 1812 he came to Australia in 1848 with five of his children Alexander, James , Robert James, John, Janet .

James and Mary eldest son Robert b 1837 had died as an infant in Scotland . James and his wife Mary Forrest who he married in 1836 arrived into Port Adelaide South Australia on the ship "Westminister", two more children were born in Australia Mary in 1850 and daughter Marion in 1853
After the death of his wife Mary Snodgrass nee Forrest in 1854 James remarried to a Mary McGregor and had a eight more children making a total of 16 children for James
All of James children expect for Robert his son from his marriage to Mary Forrest and Agnes his daughter from his marriage to Mary McGregor moved from SA to NSW
James died in 1902

DEATH OF AN OLD RESIDENT.

We regret to have to record the death of very old resident of the district in the person of Mr. James Snodgrass, who died at the residence of his son Allan at "Summerlea," Uranquinty, yesterday morning. The quently 90 years of age. His wife predeceased him on March 25, 1900, af the age of 90 years. The deceased gentleman leaves many relatives throughout the district. He was well and favorably known by a wide circle of friends, and although his great age had brought on infirmity and his well-known figure had disappeared from public walks of life, his death caused general regret. The funeral will move from his son's residence this day at 9 o'clock, passing the show ground at 2 p m., and the interment will be made in the Wagga general cemetery. Mr. John McIntosh will conduct the funeral arrangements.

FUNERAL OF THE LATE JAMES SNODGRASS.
The funeral of the late James Snodgrass,of Uranquinty, whose death was reported in our last issue as having occurred the previous day, took place on Thursday.The procession, consisting of about 25 vehicles, left "Summerlea," the residence of Mr. Allan Snodgrass, Uranquinty, where the deceased gentleman died at 9 o'clock in the morning, reaching the Wagga Cemetery, where the remains were interred, about half-past 2 in the afternoon. Arrived at the cemetery the handsome cedar casket containing the remains were borne to the graveside in the family enclosure in the Presbyterian section - by Messrs. W. and C. Snodgrass,A. and R. Bourne, Jas. Snodgrass, and J. Hilan. Rev. Charles Bell was the officiating clergyman. The funeral director was Mr. J. McIntosh.
