DEATH OF MR. J. T. HILL. It is with regret that we have to report the death of one of Adelong's esteemed citizens, in the person of Mr. J. T. Hill. The death was not unexpected, as Mr. Hill had been a sufferer from acute asthma for many years, and of late had been getting considerably worse, and it could be seen that he could not last long, despite the best of medical advice and all that loving and skilful nursing could do. The late Mr. Hill was born at Bathurst, but resided nearly all his life in the Adelong and Tumut districts. It was a Tumut lady he married (Miss Howard, sister of Mr. W. Howard), and together they reared their family, all of whom are grown up, and all were present to see the remains of their beloved father laid in their last resting place on Sunday, in the Adelong Cemetery. Mr. Hill was always a most enthusiastic church-worker, and, holding the position of steward in St. Paul's Church, Adelong, his services and advice were always valued very highly by ministers in this parish. Mr. Hill was well known right throughout these districts, and commanded the respect and esteem of all with whom he came in contact. Besides a sorrowing widow, the members of the family surviving are: Mrs. F. Smith, Mr. P. Hill, Mrs. H. Bye (Adelong), Horace (Ariah Park), Mrs. C. Grady (Temora) and Miss Eileen (Adelong). Prior to the last sad rites, a church service was held in St. Paul's Church, Rev. G. F. Pyke officiating. |
