| - Notes: In rely to Michael, I wrote the following.
This was a bit of a puzzle. I have the record from my project on the Queanbeyan Pioneers. I was using the Canberra and Queanbeyan Biographical Register were the family gets a mention on page 172. Two settlers, Edwin and James get a mention with parents Thomas LAND and Jane GODDINGTON. Thomas and Jane would have been married about 1825. FreeBMD records begin in 1831. So no luck there. When I check the census records, I can see the Land family 1841, 1851, 1861. Thomas is gone in 1871. When I look for GODDINGTON in the census records, there are very few and none in Devon. If I check for GLENDINNING, I can find two families in Tiverton, Devon in 1851. I would have to guess that the name is very likely to be GLENDINNING. Notice my wording - guess and likely. I will leave my record as it is as that the only thing I can source. I will add this note to the record. |
