MR. J. F. MEURANT. Following upon a seizure nine days before, Mr, John Ferdinand Meurant passed away on Wednesday last, at Welwyn Private .Hospital, Wagga. A native of Wagga, and 53 years of . age, the late Mr. 'Jack' Meurant was one of the most widely and poplarly known townsmen, a member of a family whose name for over 60 years has been associated closely with the growth of Wagga, and the solid development of its district. His own business interests were thrown in with that firm of stock aud station agents, Messrs Meurant, Blake, Watts, Clark, Ltd, . whose successful operations have spelt district welfare. The deceased was the youngest son of the late Mr. Louis Meurant, of 'Sandridge,' Wagga. As a young man he followed grazing pursuits on 'Mirrool' and 'Sandridge,' and about 20 years ago joined the firm of Messrs Meurant and Blake, which had been established in the early nineties. Seven years ago, when the company Meurant, Blake, Watts, Clark Ltd., was formed he joined with it as one of its members. Deceased was married about 51/2 years ago to Miss Ruby Cass, of Temora, who survives him. Two brothers, Mr. Albert A. Meurant, of .Wagga, and Mr. Alf. Meurant, of Sydney, and six sisters, Misses Lilian, Rose and Emma Meurant at Wagga, and Mrs. W. Beattie, Mrs.H. Gettings, and Mrs. Brooks, all of Sydney, also survive him. Mr. Theodore Meurant, and his younger brother Louis, who was drowned many years ago, predeceased him.
