Personal Notes:
John McFarland and Annabella arrived from Northern Ireland with John's sister Jane and her husband, William McIntyre who was Annabella's brother. They settled in Picton and in 1865 left with 52 other Northern Ireland family members for an 8 month trip to Wagga Wagga where they took up land at Downside.

John McFarland, his wife Annabell McEntyre and daughter Margaret arrived aboard the Emily on 9 September 1850 together with his sister Jane and her husband William McEntyre. John's parents ( Andrew McFarland & Margaret Charlton) were shown on the immigration documents to be deceased. The family initially settled around Picton and some years later travelled in a large group to Wagga Wagga, NSW. The journey is believed to have taken eight months and the group included the McFarland, McEntyre, McNickle, Mulholland and Montgomery families - all connected by marriage. Annabell, his wife, is buried in Wagga Wagga
