“OBITUARY
MRS. W. G. PROWSE
After a short illness, the death oc
curred in Welwyn Private . Hospital
about 11 o'clock last night of Mrs.
Letitla Prowse, aged 70 years, wife of
Mr. W. G. Prowse, of 65 Best-street,
Wagga. Only daughter of the late
Mr. and Mrs. F. Treweek, of Bethungra,
Mrs. Prowse was born at that town
ana spent her early life there.. Fifty
three years ago she married Mr. Prowse
at Adelong, and they lived at 'Green-
view,' Adelong, until 14 years ago, when
they came to live in retirement in
Wagga. Few people were better known
around Adelong than Mr. and Mrs.
Prowse, where they were among ,the
early pioneers of that district. Mrs.
Prowse played her part as the stal
wart wife of a pioneer, while her hus
band Interested himself in many acti
vities, having as their aim the welfare
of the district. Her interest was centred
in the up-bringing of her family, but
she also displayed an active interest in
the affairs of the Adelong Methodist
Church, in which she 'was associated
with every movement. Coming to
Wagga 14 years ago, Mrs. Prowse did
not assume inactivity in her retirement,
but with an enthusiasm that was re
markable, threw in her lot with the
Wagga Methodist Church. All the
women's associations of that Church
had her active co-operation, and in
addition, she took an interest in the
Red Cross Society and the Benevolent
Society. Of a cheerful and charitable
disposition, Mrs. Prowse was known
for her many acts of kindness, and
there are many living to-day who have
Mrs. Prowse to thank for courtesies
and aids which gave them encourage
ment and help to go forward. In addi
tion to her husband, she is survived by
five sons, Messrs. James, Bert, and
Stanley (Wagga), Harold (Oura), who
Is deputy president of the Mitchell
Shire Council and president of the
Wagga branch of the Farmers and
Settlers' Association, and William
(West Maitland), and one daughter,
Letitia (Mrs. C. Hill, of Yass). There
are also four brothers, Messrs. Sydney
Treweek (Grahamstown) , James and
Stace (Junee), and Frank (Perntree
Gully, Victoria), a large number of
grandchildren and five greatgrand
children. In addition ' there is one
adopted son, Mr. Clarence ('Charlie')
Melrose, of Tarcutta, and later of
Wagga. The funeral will take place
to-day, the cortege being appointed ta.
leave the Wagga Methodist Church at
3.30 o'clock this afternoon, following
a short service at 3.15, for the Method
ist portion of the Wagga cemetery.

This public tree has about 60,100 people. Every person in the tree is related by birth or marriage to at least one other person in the tree - no strays. The people in the tree come mainly from four projects.
  1. My family tree. The original project begun about 1998. ID numbers less than about 6,000
  2. Canberra and Queanbeyan Pioneers. The next 30,000 begun about 2004. Sourced almost entirely from HAGSOC's excellent 'Biographical Register of Canberra and Queanbeyan'. The project began when I decided to add siblings, spouses and parents for a relation with an entry in the Register. 12 years work.
  3. Wagga Pioneers. I moved to Wagga and thought I would extend the Queanbeyan project by adding people from Wagga Wagga & District Family History Society's 'Pioneers of Wagga Wagga and District'. About 10,300 people added over about a year.
  4. Tumut Valley Pioneers. During the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020, I decided to extend the above projects by adding pioneers of the Tumut Valley. Initial sources were Snowden's 'Pioneers of the Tumut Valley' and 'Relict of ... Lives of Pioneering Women of Tumut and District'. Excellent references published by Tumut Family History Group. I've also added material from newspapers of the time - especially, death records, obituaries and weddings from 'Tumut and Adelong Times'. This project is in its early stage and might take a few years. I plan to extend to the upper Monaro (Adaminaby, Kiandra, Cooma, Jindabyne).
I upload new information to this website about every 3 months. My motivation for these projects is to provide public information for people seeking to trace ancestors and what became of them. Much of the information I provide can be difficult to find.
If you find errors - anything incorrect (dates, places, wrong parents, wrong children), and you have evidence, I would love to fix them. Or, if you have information that would extend my projects, do not hestiate to contact me on the email link below. I do not publish information on living people - which means I'm not much interested in people born after about 1920, and I usually distrust material from before about 1770 without extremely good sources.
