The Tumut and Adelong Times 20 Jul 1926
Mrs. Ward, wife of Mr. Percy Ward, of "Gilgal," Cootamundra, died suddenly last Wednesday, at her home. With her at the time was only one member of the family, Miss Gwen Ward. Her mother was in good spirits, and had enjoyed her dinner, but shortly afterwards sat down outside, with a heart seizure. Miss Ward went to the 'phone, and rang up Mr. Cecil Ward, her cousin, who resides only 300 yards away. When they got to Mrs. Ward she had breathed her last. It was, indeed, very sudden. Mr. Ward and the only son, Ralph, were away at the time at Adelong, and could not reach "Gilgal" again until evening. The rest of the family are : Bertha (Mrs. C. Rees), Townsville, Queensland; Lil. (Mrs. Dudley Cross), also of Townsville — they live opposite each other in the same street ; Miss Marjorie Ward, who is on a visit to her sisters at Townsville; Gladys (Mrs L. Hayes), of Sydney, whose late husband had a property in the Adelong district; and Miss Dorothy Ward, who, after her University career, went on a world tour, and is now doing kindergarten work in England. Deceased was a native of the Camden district, where two of her brothers, Messrs. A. V. and R. Moore, reside. After Mr. Percy Ward finished his career in the Education Department, he, with his life partner, settled down on the old property of his father, the founder of the large family of Wards in Cootamundra district. |
