| Re John William Wells: I viewed online the original document of marriage of William Wells to Sarah Withers June 1811 and feel sure this is our chap. Would have been too young to marry earlier and 1st child born April 1812. John William and Sarah had at least 8 children after William George. I have birth certificate of youngest, Charles, born 1838. His mother’s maiden name was Withers. John William Wells died Nov 1849 at home (8 Somers Place West, Somers Town (St Pancras)) of apoplexy (I have his death certificate). Age said to be 58, a year out if born 1792 (April) but informant was not his wife and maybe not a family member. In census March 1851 Sarah Wells’ stated age was 58 and birthplace St James’s Middlesex (presumably St James’s parish Westminster (Piccadilly)) |

| - Notes: Re William George's father John William, today on Familysearch.org, I found that a William Wells married a Sarah Withers June 16, 1811 in St Martin-in-the-Fields . There are many named Sarah Withers, so could another Sarah Withers have married our John William Wells? or is this ours with a mistake re correct name? (After all, I didn't view the original document just a transcription). I haven't yet found a marriage for a John William Wells that would fit the right dates. |
