Son of Joseph and Sarah nee Himsworth Bachelor The Tumut and Adelong Times (NSW : 1864 - 1867; 1899 - 1950) Tue 3 Feb 1931 DEATH OF MR. J. WILLIAM ALLATT An old native of the district, in the person of Mr. Joseph William Allatt, of Capper-st., Tumut, died at his residence on Saturday last. He was about on the previous Wednesday, but owing to his feebleness was kept indoors, though desiring to take his customary walk on Thursday. Deceased was in his 72nd year and for many years had been a sufferer from a nervous disorder, which eventually interfered with him getting about. Death came peacefully, from senile decay and heart failure. He was a bachelor, and for many years carried on, the blacksmithing and wheelwright business established by his father before him. He leaves one brother (Charlie, Tumut) and two sisters (Mrs. Tom Baker and Miss Sarah Allatt) . Another brother, George, was drowned in the Tumut River. The funeral took place on Sunday last, the remains being laid to rest in the C. of E. portion of the Tumut Cemetery, Rev. F. W. Rettie performing the last sad rites at the graveside while Mr. H. W. Baker attended to the mortuary duties. |
