OBITUARY MRS. FRANCIS HENERY Grief and sadness came with stark suddenness to Mr. Frank Henery and his family, of Tarrabandra, early on Tuesday morning last, when unexpec tedly, Mrs. Henery died in the Gundagai District Hospital. The sorrowful news cast a gloom over the whole town and district. The people were stunned by the news of the tragic death of Mrs. Henery, and genuine were the universal expressions of sympathy, at the passing of such a revered and esteemed personage. On Saturday afternoon, July 17, Mrs. Henery fell and fractured her leg, and was admitted to hospital. No one could possibly imagine the accident would have had such drastic consequences. The deceased was progress ing very satisfactory, but however late on Monday night, delayed shock intervened, and in spite of all care and medical skill, she passed away. The passing of Mrs. Henery removes from the community a loveable and sincere soul. Of her nothing but good could be said. Her life was ex emplary, and in all things she was governed by a magnificient sense of justice and loyalty, coupled with a proper recognition of the rights of her fellows. In public life the late Mrs. Henery was a very active participant in organisations for charitable causes. For her church she was a staunch worker; for the RSL she gave much, did much and achieved lunch; her energies were also directed to the Red Cross, the Gundagai Hospital Auxiliary, Patriotic appeals and the hundred and one causes which crop up and require the interest and help of people throughout the years. For over twenty years, the late Mrs. Henery was an executive officer of the Returned Soldiers Auxiliary, and in this particular sphere of her charitable works, she was re warded with the esteem and reverence of every returned man in the district. Her place will indeed be hard to fill. In her home, the late Mrs. Henery was happiest. She was a model wife and mother, and to her bereaved widow and family, the condolences of one and all is extended. Besides her husband, the deceased is survived by a family of five daughters and one son : Misses Mary (Gun dagai), Ann (Campbelltown), Rita (Gundagai), Jean and Patricia (Tar rabandra) and Bob Henry (Tarrabandra). The deceased was 51 years of age. She was a member of a well known Tumut family, of whom Mr. Frank Heydon, of Jerilderie, is the only surviving member. Solemn Requiem Mass was celebrated in St Patrick's, Gundagai, on Wednesday morning, and at 3 p.m. the cortege left the Church for the North Gundagai Catholic Cemetery. The funeral was very largely at tended, many people travelling long distances to pay their last respects to an esteemed woman. Rev Fr. O'Brien, assisted by Rev. Fr Gallagher, read the last prayers. A special truck had to he used to carry the floral tokens and among the many wreaths was a laurel wreath from the RSS and AILA. Mr. W. Dennis, funeral director, of Gundagai, was in charge of the fune ral arrangements, and the casket was carried by Messrs. Wal. and Frank Malone, Rob Halloran (cousins), Leo Hunt, Leo Boyton and Chas Gardiner. — Gundagai Independent. |

This public tree has about 60,100 people. Every person in the tree is related by birth or marriage to at least one other person in the tree - no strays. The people in the tree come mainly from four projects.
If you find errors - anything incorrect (dates, places, wrong parents, wrong children), and you have evidence, I would love to fix them. Or, if you have information that would extend my projects, do not hestiate to contact me on the email link below. I do not publish information on living people - which means I'm not much interested in people born after about 1920, and I usually distrust material from before about 1770 without extremely good sources. g.bell@bigpond.net.au When you click the mail address abouve, if it does not open your email app, copy the address on the screen.
