- Notes: Marianne Beers Ferres,
· born 3 October 1810, [based on Mary Lynn’s notes],
· probably at Larne, co. Antrim, Northern Ireland,
· died in 1888, at Ballarat,
· by religion a member of the Church of Ireland [Anglican Communion],
· married on 12 February 1833, to Adam Loftus Lynn,
· at St Mullins Church, Co. Down, Ireland.
· issue was eleven children; eight daughters and three sons, [taken from lists prepared by Adam Loftus Lynn]. All reached adulthood:
· four born at Inyard [also spelt Innyard], Co. Wexford, Ireland.
1 Minna, 1833– 1860,
2 Dora, 1835 - 1877,
3 Mary, [Marianne, Mary Anne] 1837 - 1934,
4 [Adam] Loftus, 1839 – 1919,
· five born at “St Kiernan's”, [also spelt St Kern’s], Salt Mills, Co. Wexford,
Annie [Eliza], 1841 - 1867,
Margaretta, 1843 - 1933,
Bessie, 1845 - 1881,
Jemima, 1847 - 1927,
Thomas Keogh, 1849 - 1882,
one born on vessel "Hudson" en route to Australia,
10 Sarah Eliza Cherry, 1850 - 1934,
· one born in Sydney,
11 Charles John [Edward Townsend], 1854 - 1889,
It is curious that the lists mention a house in the village of Fethard [now possibly a guest house] and St Kieran’s, which is also a house in the village of Salt Mills.

- Notes: Marianne was interred in the New Cemetery at Ballarat in a grave shared with her middle son Thomas Keogh [Kough] and next to that of her youngest daughter, Sarah and Sarah’s Wholesale Wine Spirits and Grocery merchant husband, Fenwick Hamilton. The graves were once enclosed within a fence common to both. Marianne’s headstone was once vertical as shown in photo. Now, it’s near horizontal, not fallen but placed so, the stone becoming eroded and illegible and badly discoloured due to some form of acid rain.
The grave of Adam Loftus is in the Old Cemetery; he being buried in a grave common with his son-in-law Arthur Drury, the husband of his daughter Marianne, and memorialising their cremated son, Arthur Charles Drury.

This public tree has about 60,100 people. Every person in the tree is related by birth or marriage to at least one other person in the tree - no strays. The people in the tree come mainly from four projects.
  1. My family tree. The original project begun about 1998. ID numbers less than about 6,000
  2. Canberra and Queanbeyan Pioneers. The next 30,000 begun about 2004. Sourced almost entirely from HAGSOC's excellent 'Biographical Register of Canberra and Queanbeyan'. The project began when I decided to add siblings, spouses and parents for a relation with an entry in the Register. 12 years work.
  3. Wagga Pioneers. I moved to Wagga and thought I would extend the Queanbeyan project by adding people from Wagga Wagga & District Family History Society's 'Pioneers of Wagga Wagga and District'. About 10,300 people added over about a year.
  4. Tumut Valley Pioneers. During the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020, I decided to extend the above projects by adding pioneers of the Tumut Valley. Initial sources were Snowden's 'Pioneers of the Tumut Valley' and 'Relict of ... Lives of Pioneering Women of Tumut and District'. Excellent references published by Tumut Family History Group. I've also added material from newspapers of the time - especially, death records, obituaries and weddings from 'Tumut and Adelong Times'. This project is in its early stage and might take a few years. I plan to extend to the upper Monaro (Adaminaby, Kiandra, Cooma, Jindabyne).
I upload new information to this website about every 3 months. My motivation for these projects is to provide public information for people seeking to trace ancestors and what became of them. Much of the information I provide can be difficult to find.
If you find errors - anything incorrect (dates, places, wrong parents, wrong children), and you have evidence, I would love to fix them. Or, if you have information that would extend my projects, do not hestiate to contact me on the email link below. I do not publish information on living people - which means I'm not much interested in people born after about 1920, and I usually distrust material from before about 1770 without extremely good sources.
