Personal Notes:
MRS. JOHN HALLORAN.
The death of Mrs. Lavinia Halloran, wife of Mr. John Halloran, which occurred in the Tumut District Hospital, removed a well-loved personality of the Blowering district. The late Mrs. Halloran was born at Redruth, Cornwall, England, and came to Australia in early infancy, and lived practically the whole of her life at Tumut and Blowering. In 1905 she married Mr. John Halloran, the youngest son of the well known Blowering pioneer family, by whom she is survived, as well as by their six children. Of a retiring disposition, Mrs. Halloran was a friend to all, but, above all things, a home lover. Her conception of the ideal of home and family life was exemplary, and as the passing years scattered the family to various parts of the State, the bond of family unity, cherished and nurtured by the devoted parents, was ever manifest in the regular gatherings of all members to the hearth of their childhood. Always an ardent and devout Catholic, Mrs. Halloran was ever faithful to her church laws and generous in her giving, both spiritually and temporally. During her last sickness she was visited frequently by Rev. Fr. Casey and the Sisters of Mercy, including her own daughter, Sister M. Agnes, of Yass. Requiem Mass was celebrated, and during the afternoon many visited the church and joined in the recitation of the Rosary until the funeral at 3.30 p.m. The cortege was a particularly large one, expressive of the esteem in which the deceased lady was held and the sympathy felt for the bereaved family. — "Tumut Express." Mrs. C. Collier, of Taree, is a sister of the late Mrs. Halloran. — Ed., "M.R.T.")
