The daughter of Mary nee O'Brien and Patrick Bartley, born in Ireland, was born at sea 12 days from Sydney and arrived at Port Jackson on 21 July 1838 with her parents as bounty immigrants, aboard the "Magistrate". They had sailed from Cork in Ireland on 8 Apr 1838. The Magistrate's arrival can be found d at https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/12862433

Mary nee Bartley married Patrick Joseph Thornton on 18 Jan 1857 at the Residence of James Leonard, Bombala, New South Wales. They had 9 (nine), children, Patrick, Johanna Mary, Morgan, Mary, Sarah, John Thomas, Catherine Alberta, Cecilia Mary, and, James Edward.

The old Bega Cemetery closed in 1905. All of the headstones were moved to the present Bega Cemetery location. The remains of the deceased were left at the Old Bega Cemetery and the High School was built over them.
If there was a headstone for the deceased the plot number is its location at the Bega Cemetery.

The immigration record of the Bartley family found on ancestry.com has the ship arrival date as Oct 1838 that is NOT Correct
