Ancestry - Eade Family - Claire

FRANK HENRY EADE BORN 5 BLANTYRE STREET, CHELSEA 1872 . FATHER SAMUEL BORN MIDHRST 1846, MOTHER ELIZABETH PARLETT BORN NORWICH 1846.

MARCH 1881 CENSUS SHOWS FAMILY TOGETHER . BETWEEN THEN AND AUGUST A DISASTER HITS THE FAMILY CAUSING SAMUEL TO ABSCOND, ELIZABETH IN DESPERATION TRIED TO DROWN HERSELF AND 4 CHILDREN. SHE IS COUNTED AS INSANE . DAUGHTER ALICE MARY HARRIET IS GIVEN A HOME WITH AN AUNT & UNCLE. FRANKS OTHER TWO SISTERS WERE ADMITED TO LEAVESDEN INDUSTRIAL SCHOOL IN AUGUST 1881. FRANK ADMITTED TO THE INFIRMARY , THEN INTO THE SCHOOL IN SEPTEMBER 1881. THEY WERE IN LEAVESDEN DUE TO ELIZABETH NOW BEING AN INMATE OF THE ATTACHED ASSYLUM WHERE SHE REMAINED TILL DEATH AGE 78 IN 1924. I WAS TOLD PARTS OF THIS DRAMA BY MY FATHER , ALFRED ANDREW EADE, WHEN I MOVED TO LEAVESDEN, CLOSE TO THE HOSPITAL/ ASSYLUM. ON SEEING THE BUILDING HE TOLD ME, HIS FATHER AND FAMILY HAD GROWN UP THERE WITH THEIR MOTHER.

BY SEARCHING THE LONDON POOR LAWS I DISCOVERED THE RECORDS OF THE FAMILY WHILST THERE. FRANK LEFT THE SCHOOL IN 1886 TO WORK AS AN ERRAND BOY FOR A CHEMIST IN DORCHESTER PLACE. LONDON. HIS YEARLY REPORT SHOWS HE WAS A HARD WORKING WELL BEHAVED LAD. IN 1891 HE LEAVES TO LIVE WITH ALFRED CULLUM PARLETT (HIS COUSIN A COACH BUILDER) TO LEARN CARRIAGE PAINTING.

ALFRED CULLM WAS THE ILLEGITIMATE SON OF ELIZABETHS SISTER HARRIET

WHEN FRANK MARRIED (CLARA LARWOOD) HE LEFT FROM 85 LUCAS STREET AND CLARA FROM ALFRED CULLUM PARLETTS ADDRESS 87 LUCAS STREET. FOR SOME REASON FRANK EITHER NOT KNOWING THE FACTS OR FROM NOT WISHING TO ACKNOWLEDGE HIS FATHER , CLAIMED HIS FATHER WAS FRANK A PIAONOFORTE BUILDER AND THAT HIS PLACE OF BIRTH WAS BETHNAL GREEN,FROM WHERE HE WAS ADMITTED TO LEAVESDEN.

STRANGLEY SAMUEL DISAPPEARS FROM RECORDS AFTER 1881 BUT ANOTHER SAMUEL 2 YEARS YOUNGER AND FROM CHICHESTER APPEARS AND IN 1911 HE AND A 2 YEAR YOUNGER ELIXABETH HAVE BEEN MARRIED SINCE 1881, HAD ONLY 1 CHILD WHO DIED. THIS SAMUEL DIES 1912 , WAS MY SAMUEL RUNNING 2 LIVES, COPYING HIS NEPHEWS EXAMPLE.

THE MAN I KNEW AND DEARLY LOVED WAS A HAPPY BUBBLY ,VIBRANT MAN, WITH A SPARKLE . I HAVE BEEN AMAZED THAT THE LIFE HE EXPERIENCED DID NOT DAMAGE HIS PERSONALITY, HIS SISTERS, WHEN RELEASED , AGE 14 WENT TO LIVE WITH PARLETT RELATIVES BUT DIED VERY YOUNG.

NAMES CHOSEN BY MY GRANDPARENTS, HONOURED THE ESTEEM FRANK HAD FOR HIS COUSIN WHO HELPED HIM. SONS WERE NAMED AFTER ALFREDS CHILDREN.

THIS JOURNEY OF DISCOVERY HAS BEEN VERY EMOTIONAL, I WAS A CHILD WHEN I KNEW HIM BUT I FEEL I REALLY KNOW THE MAN NOW. I AM REALLY HONOURED TO CALL HIM MY DEAR GRANDAD.
