Personal Notes: |
e-mail Derek Warren - my grandfather (Frank Warren) was in the army. He married Selina on 2 July 1896. When he retired he was sergeant major and they lived in North London.
Derek Warren - Frank Warren was not a teacher but the School Keeper and he was in charge of the army cadet force at the school. Lots of secondary schools had a cadet force. He was a sergeant major in the Royal Engineers and I have, hanging on our sitting room wall, his ceremonial sword. 1891 census - strainer plate maker Extract from page 15 of HOPE, The Coastguard Gazette No. 149, dated AUGUST 1896 ------------------------------------------------ (Marriages) WARREN - ALLPORT, - July 2nd. At Templebrady Church, by Rev. W. J. Willson, Rector of the Parish, Frank Warren, R.E., second son of the late James Warren, of Watford, near London, to Selina Louisa, eldest daughter of George Allport, R.N., Chief Officer, Crosshaven C.G.S., County Cork. COASTGUARD WEDDING AT CROSSHAVEN. On Thursday morning, July 2nd, 1896, the marriage of Frank Warren, R.E., and Miss Selina L. Allport, was celebrated at Templebrady Church. The bride was given away by her father, Mr. G. Allport, Chief Officer, and was attended by four Bridesmaids, Miss L Allport, sister of the bride, Miss Henry, Miss Wright, and Miss Keeling. The station was very gaily decorated with bunting and evergreen. Among the many presents received by the bride there figured a very pretty silver teapot and sugar tongs presented by the Crews of the Station and Detachment. In the evening the whole of the Crew , with their wives and children, were entertained by Mr. and Mrs. Allport father and mother of the bride, and a most enjoyable evening was spent, dancing singing, etc., being kept up with great spirit until an early hour in the morning. |
