Thank you so much for your info….you went above and beyond. Especially with the Accles….knowing the name Hannah Ferguson allowed me to find their marriage, in Ireland in 1850. Also the name of her father…William. Looks like she stayed in Australia, or went back to Ireland, because George is in the 1860 census in Albany, New York with all three boys. Hazel told a wonderful story about two of the brothers who went back to visit Australia….apparently they had been separated—perhaps in orphanages—but, they both were waiting for mail and when the postman called out “Accles” they both came to get the mail, and that is how they reconnected! I have also done Hazel’s “family finder” test with familytreedna.com I will search the matches for these surnames including the spelling “Eckels.” I wonder if the test would pick your distant relationship? She is such an interesting woman…just retiring from running a small boutique hotel barge on the Canal du Midi in France. |
