Born at Bathurst where she was also married, the late Mrs.Rutherford settled at Charters Towers where her husband had accepted an appointment as a mine manager, about 60 years ago. Following the death of her husband she came to the Lower Burdekin about 33 years ago and with her sons, commenced farming at McDesme. Here she resided continuously until she passed away. One son, Arthur, predeceased her about two years ago. One daughter, Mrs. W. Greenland, of Brisbane, and two sons, Ernest and Leonard are left to cherish her memory. The funeral which moved from All Saints' Church of England, was largely attended.
