RETURNED SOLDIERS DEATH Early yesterday morning the dead body ofMr. Robert Cowan, jun., was found on the road about half a mile outside Mirani where it is supposed deceased was thrown from his horse. Deceased was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Cowan, well-known residents of the district, and was 28 years of age. He was 'n the township on Saturday night and left on horseback for home at about 1.30 a.m. intend ing, it is stated, to return last night. The late Mr. Cowan was on active service for about two and a half years, during which he was gassed and since his return had undergone treatment in Brisbane. He was popularly known throughout the Mackay district. The body was brought to Mackay yesterday by Constable Dore and a, post-mortem, examination will will be made this morning.
