AN AYR FATALITY AYR, December 23 The district was greatly shocked this mornig by the news that one of our well known residents, Mr. R. J. Pollard, farmer, of Klondyke, was accidentally killed at about six o'clock. He was out mustering some cattle when through his horse stumbl ing he was thrown violently to the ground. His little girl who was with him ran to the house for her mother, but by the time Mrs. Pollard reach ed her husband he was dead. It subsequently transpired that the un fortunate man had broken his neck. Deceased had formerly been a miner at Charters Towers, His people being well known Charters Towers resi dents. For some years past he has carried on farming operations on the Burdekin. His wife was Miss Parker, daughter of Mrs. H. Cox, of Gains ford, Ayr. Deceased was a prominent mason and a man generally respect ed and liked in the district. His funeral will leave the Masonic Hall this afternoon at 4.30. Great Sym pathy is felt for his sorrowing wife and children. |
