OBITUARY Mr. Robert Montgomery Gradually the old district pioneers are passing away. On Monday at mid-day there passed away, at his son's residence, Glenrowan, Mr. Robert Montgomery, sen., aged 69 years. The deceased had been confined to bhis bed for about two months, and had been tenderly nursed by his daughters, Misses Dollie and Elsie Montgomery. The late Mr. Montgomery was born at Ballymema, County Antrim, Ireland, and was a colonist of 50 years. Arriving in the colony when 19 years of age, he for a few years was employed as a farm hand at Wlnton. Whilst residing at Winton he married Miss Rebecca Chambers, who predeceased him 20 years ago. Removing to Killawarra from Win ton deceased selected land and was en gaged in farming pursuits for 30 years. Relinquishing farming he removed to Boweya and lived a retlred life for several years. Latterly he was residing at Glen rowan with his son. The late Mr. Mont gomery was an industrious farmer, led a quiet unassuming life, and was a sterling neighbor. The members of his family are:— Mrs. Good, New South Wales; Misses Dollle and Elsie Montgomery, Glenrowan; John, Edward, Alexander, and James, Glenrowan; Robert, N.S.W.; Harry, munition worker, England; Leslie, Sunshine. Deceased was burled ab Thoona on Tuesday. Mr. Justice had | charge of the funeral arrangements. |
