SOCIAL ORR-SMITH. On Saturday afternoon last an attractive wedding ceremony took place, in the Presbyterian Church, Footscray, the Rev. A. W. Butler officiating. The young couple were Miss Rubie Smith, daughter of Mr R. W. Smith, head teacher of the central state school, and Mr William J. Orr, son of Mr W. J. Orr, of Albert street, Footscray. The bride was elegantly dressed and made a charming picture being robed in satin messaline with an overdress of-silk floral chiffon. A court train of satin greatly added to the effect. The usual bridal veil and orange blossom were worn. The bride carried a dainty shower bouquet. The bridesmaids were Misses Muriel McNab, Beatrice Roberts, Jessie Viccars. They were tastefully arrayed in white embroidered muslin dresses, each carry ing a bouquet of scarlet flowers. The groomsmen, were Messrs John McKay, Robert Orr, and Reginald Smith. Last but not least were Little Melita Smith an Master Hubert Mc Nab, who followed in rear. These were prettily dressed in white and carried floral baskets and staff. The church was crowded. After the conclusion of the ceremony, an adjournment was made to St. John's' Hall, Pickett-street, where the reception, tea and social were held. The guests, numbering over 200, were conveyed from the church to the Hall in motor cars. Interspersed with the usual toasts, were songs and recitations, and the remainder of the evening was mainly devoted to dancing. Seldom has the hall looked so attractive, Mr and Mrs Armbrusteir, the well-known caterers of Nicholson street, having excelled themselves in its decoration. The wedding presents were both numerous and costly. |
