Daily Mercury (Mackay) 15 July 1908
DEATH OF MR. HARRY E. ROBERT
SON
The death occurred, last evening about
8 o'clock of Mr. Henry Edward Robertson
a well-known resident. Mr. 'Robertson had
been confined to his bed for about a week
from the effects of an attack of influenza
which he had left too late, and which de
veloped into pneumonia.. The funeral takes
place this afternoon. . The deceased leaves
a widow, three daughters and one son to
mourn their sad loss. The late Mr.Rob
ertson came to this district in the year
1877, when he was but 12 years of age
and, for some years worked (together with
his brother, the late Mr. William Robert
son) for his, grandfather; the late Mr.
W. Wear. Later on he worked for his
brother at Eaton, afterwards conducting
the butchery on his own account. Dispens
ing of his Eaton butchery he entered into
hotel business in that town, and after
conducting that for several years set
out and went to Charters Towers where
he ran the Picnic Hotel and a butchery.
Neither of these two speculations turning
out successful, he returned to Eton, and
once more took over his old hotel there.
Selling this out about six years ago, he
bought the Mackay butchering business
Messrs. Nolan Bros., and has conducted
that most successfully up to the present
time. 'Harry" Robertson, as he was was fam
liarly known to his associates was a
genial and warm-hearted gentleman, but
blunt and to the point, and as honest a
man as ever lived. His widow is a daughter
of Mr. Geo. Ironside of Eton.
