Publican’s Licenses Scott Alexander - Packsaddle - Packsaddle Hotel For the period 24 Oct 1889 to 23 Oct 1890 NSW Govt Gazette In the lands, goods, chattels, credits, and effects of Alexander Scott, late of Packsaddle, in the Colony of NSW, licensed victualler, deceased, intestate - died on or about the 4th day of June last, may be granted to Mary Ann Scott, the widow of the said deceased Date this 21st July 1890 NSW Government Gazette - 1893 Sept - Oct Brand for horses granted to Mary Ann Scoott “Packsaddle Hotel”, Milparinka Mary Ann ran this pub till around 1895 when she moved to the Royal Hotel Tibooburra (to let notices in the papers) 1895 NSW Certificates for Publican’s Licences Mary Scott, Tibooburra - Royal Hotel - from 23 Jan 1895 to 22 Jan 1896 The Packsaddle went into bankruptcy in 1897 - in the name of William Archibald Bell In 1897 Mrs. Fahey (Mary Ann Scott) was mentioned in a “to Let” notice for the Packsaddle 1898 Fahay Mrs. M. Tibooburra Royal Hotel; rail to Broken Hill, then coach via Tarrawinge & Wilcannia. Publican * 1898 NSW Country Directory 1898 1898 - A publican named Joseph Kelly, licencee of the Packsaddle Hotel, on the Tibooburra track had committed suicide by shooting himself. (Is this Kelly any relation to Mary Ann?) - brother. 1898 - Packsaddle Hotel is burnt down - property insured for 300 pounds - property originally erected by Mr. Alex Scott, who anticipated being able to make it freehold, but being on the stock route the Government has always refused to alienate any of the land. Probable that a new house will be built just off the stock route. 1899 - Wanted - tenders for the erection of Packsaddle hotel - Plans at S. A. Brewing Co. 1900 Evening News Sydney 2 Nov 1900 A DIVORCE APPEAL. An appeal from a decision of Mr. Justice Simp son, in the suit of Mary Ann Fahey against John | Fahey, was disposed of by the Full Court yester- : day. The suit was one for divorce, on the ground of i desertion, and, according to the evidence of the j petitioner, she lived with the respondent after she married him, in September, 1895, at Tibooburra, some 200 miles from Broken Hill, for nine or ten months. She was a widow at the time she mar ried him, and kept the Royal Hotel, Tibooburra. From the time of the marriage until the respon dent, left Tipr. in .Tiilv. 1896. he contributed noth ing towards her support, and was drinking the t whole of that time. He was drunk on an aver age three or four times a week. Stevenson, S.M., dealt with the following matters:— Mrs. Comben was granted the trans- fer of the publican's license in respect of the Royal Hotel, Tibooburra, previ- ously held by Mrs. Fahey. FAHEY Mr. Max Foulds, of the Southern Cross Hotel, has been advised of the death in Sydney on Sunday night of Mrs. Fahey, who was a well-known woman of the outback country. She at one time kept the Packsaddle hotel, now delicensed. and then went to Tibooburra to take over the hotel from her mother. She remained there for many years, and left six or seven years ago to reside in Bondi, the hotel being left in the care of her daughter, who is still there. The Royal Hotel at Tibooburra was yesterday submitted to auction by Cockrum and Foulds at their Blende street auction mart. A buyer was found in Mr. J. A. Scott, of Tiboo- burra, whose bid was £1,300. The hotel formed part of the estate of Mary Ann Fahey. Two houses in Tibooburra were also sold, one bringing £62 and the other £29.
