- Notes: Samuel's daughter - Mrs Aimee Colyer aged 82 was still living in 1967 and she could relate to the author many incidents from her life of seventy years living at Gocup. For example - she spoke of an incident which caused great embarrassment to her mother and aunt. Before there were any telephones in Tumut one of the station employees came with the information that one of the prominent adjacent landowners had died suddenly. Aimee Gordon and her sister Mary (who were young girls at the time) got busy and made a wreath whilst her mother and aunt got ready to proceed by buggy and pair of horses to convey the family condolences to the bereaved family who lived four miles distant. Upon their arrival, expecting to meet the heart broken widow and her children, they were surprised to be welcomed by happy smiling faces and when the "deceased" parent came out in perfect health, they made certain no one saw the wreath.

Mrs. Aimee Colyer donated £5 each year to the Tumut High School for Best Conduct.
