- Notes: MR. ALBERT E. BOYD
The death occurred in the Tumut district Hospital on July 10, 1949, of Mr. Albert Ernest Boyd, of Sydney Street, Tumut, after a short illness. Born in the Yass district seventy nine years ago, Albert Boyd came to Adelong as a young man and later moved to Tumut. He followed farming and mining pursuits in this district until his retirement. He had enjoyed good health until about a month ago when his general condition began to cause concern. After being nursed at home for a fortnight it became necessary to have him admitted to hospital, where everything possible was done for him, without avail. On Saturday week he lapsed into unconsciousness and passed away peacefully at 7 a.m. on the Sunday. In 1896 Mr. Boyd married Miss Edith Webb, who predeceased him in 1913. There were seven children of this marriage. One son died in infancy, but the surviving members are: Nellie (Mrs. Wilfred Harris, Coonamble), Albert (Tumut), Nettie (Mrs. Thos. McSorley, Sydney), Beatrice (Mrs. A. Bridle. Tumut), Florence (Mrs. R. Emery, Sydney) and Clarissa (Mrs. M. McCoy, Lithgow). In 1917 Mr. Boyd married again, this time, Miss Louisa Guy, of Tumut, who predeceased him in 1948. No children were born of this union. After a service at All Saints' Church on Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Broadfoot, the funeral left for the Church of England portion of the new cemetery, where he was laid to rest beside his first wife. The pall-bearers were Messrs. Lindsay and Robin Bridle (grandsons), R. Eggleton (nephew), J. Halloran, H. Nancarrow and Bevan Clee. In spite of the scarcity of flowers there were many beautiful wreaths.

The Tumut and Adelong Times (NSW : 1864 - 1867; 1899 - 1950)Tuesday 19 July 1949

This public tree has about 67,820 people. Every person in the tree is related by birth or marriage to at least one other person in the tree - no strays. The people in the tree come mainly from four projects.
  1. My family tree. The original project begun about 1998. ID numbers less than about 6,000
  2. Canberra and Queanbeyan Pioneers. The next 30,000 begun about 2004. Sourced almost entirely from HAGSOC's excellent 'Biographical Register of Canberra and Queanbeyan'. The project began when I decided to add siblings, spouses and parents for a relation with an entry in the Register. 12 years work.
  3. Wagga Pioneers. I moved to Wagga in 2015 and thought I would extend the Queanbeyan project by adding people from Wagga Wagga & District Family History Society's 'Pioneers of Wagga Wagga and District'. About 10,300 people added over about a year.
  4. Tumut Valley Pioneers. During the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020, I decided to extend the above projects by adding pioneers of the Tumut Valley. Initial sources were Snowden's 'Pioneers of the Tumut Valley' and 'Relict of ... Lives of Pioneering Women of Tumut and District'. Excellent references published by Tumut Family History Group. I've also added material from newspapers of the time - especially, death records, obituaries and weddings from 'Tumut and Adelong Times'. This project is in its early stage and might take a few years.
  5. Wagga Pioneers extended. I've begun adding the smaller outlying towns and villages around Wagga. Work on this is only when time permits - which is seldom.
I upload new information to this website about every few years. My motivation for these projects is to provide public information for people seeking to trace ancestors and what became of them. Much of the information I provide can be difficult to find.
If you find errors - anything incorrect (dates, places, wrong parents, wrong children), and you have evidence, I would love to fix them. Or, if you have information that would extend my projects, do not hestiate to contact me on the email link below. I do not publish information on living people - which means I'm not much interested in people born after about 1920, and I usually distrust material from before about 1770 without extremely good sources.
