A man named Allan Rankin met with a very severe accident a few miles out of Nimitybelle on Wednesday. He was engaged splitting palings in the mountain bush, when a limb of a tree overhanging the log he was splitting fell upon him, inflicting many severe wounds. He was knocked down, and rendered helpless, and compelled to remain there all night in the bitter cold. When daylight appeared he struggled to his camp, about two miles away, where he was found very weak, and hardly able to speak, Rankin is about 60 years of age, and is in rather a critical condition.

A very old Nimitybelle resident, Mr Allan Rankin, died here a few days ago. Mr Rankin was born at Mt Cooper 67 years ago, and he spent nearly the whole of his life in that locality.
